About the Book

Upendra Chowdhary looks back at his life in this third volume of his memoir, sharing stories from the village he grew up in India to becoming a professor of neurosurgery. The author earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery as well as a master’s degree in surgery in Agra, India, before completing neurosurgical training at elite departments in England and becoming a fully trained neurosurgeon. When he left his home in India, he had to adapt to life in various countries, including the United Kingdom and in Saudi Arabia – a challenge that was just as hard (if not harder) for his wife, Anne. The author’s goal in sharing his story is to show that willpower, persistence, and moral integrity can help anyone overcome challenges. In his case, he went from being a village boy in India to a respected doctor who continues to work in his eighties. Join the author as he looks back at a life well lived and reveals the economic, structural, and social changes in India since the early 1940s – as well as a glimpse of what life was like in diverse countries like Ireland, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Bahrain.
