April- when the rain-kissed earth steams And the smells carry me back to the dark skies of my childhood April is for nostalgia. Of angry gales tearing through the city, and grey-green Calcutta nor'westers. April-when there's chills in the pit of my stomach And goosebumps on my skin, like the ones you'd get while wishing for a first kiss From a lover who knows not what to give. Under forked tongues of lightning, Under reverberating heavens, April speaks at once; of the sun, and the dust, And wet winds and scarlet clouds, And mud, and little isolated islets of love In a rain-soaked boulevard. Of lonely nights of longing building up, up, up Till the rain comes again And washes away All doubts, all fears All reason- In a deluge of desire.

About the Author
Debadrita likes to capture the sudden and powerful impressions that people and places make on her during her everyday life, work and travels. When she is not looking for oil and gas reserves for her job as a geologist, she is the proud parent of a beautiful one year-old cat, Shadow.
