The Royal Disease

The Kingdom of Cherubs had been in utter chaos. After the terrifying plague outbreak, all was back to calm and peaceful. The flowers bloomed brightly, the people were merrily singing and dancing in the town square like they used to and birds chirped in lovely harmony. Summer was beautiful, because it restored happiness to the kingdom after that horrifying experience. This lasted for, very fortunately, quite a long time. But soon it was freezing winter, and another fatal disease invaded the land. Citizens started getting symptoms of a normal common cold, but gradually developed severe headaches and rashes. They were exhausted after trudging up the hill through the thick snow to collect grain from the large meadow, drawing water from the wooden well, and collecting eggs from the hens in the barn. This was normal, but eventually everyone fainted after the usual morning process. They refused to eat, claiming they weren’t hungry. They got thinner and thinner until they resembled mere skeletons covered in red blotches and bumps. The disease spread by one person contracting the bacteria floating in tiny droplets that came out of a sick patient when they coughed or sneezed.
