The angel's eyes slowly opened before she could fully understand what it meant. His eyes were as deep as the night sky and filled with an old strength that was hard to understand. They got chills when they saw the faint smile on his lips. "Hmm" that he said in a whisper as cold as the wind over a lonely grave. "Who have you roused me?" His direct speech gave off an obvious air of dominance that made the air around them vibrate with power they couldn't see. Elena's heart beat fast. She knew right away that this wasn't a normal angel. He was an angel with black wings—a fallen being. The dark angel looked at them for a moment before turning his attention to the faraway battle. As he watched the Shadow Unicorn beat up Herman's guards, his face stayed blank. He deliberately spread his wings out a little, which sent a brief shudder through the space. He then said, "It looks like... this realm is still full of conflict and hostility," with a hint of dark humour in his voice. Anastrina and Elena looked at each other with unease. They had no idea what would happen, but it did. This fallen angel had a huge amount of power. He didn't say whether he was with them or against them, though. It was still a mystery. As the black-winged being slowly fell from the altar, its moves cast a disturbing, shifting darkness over the broken stonework. Each move had a planned, authoritative air about it. A curious tone ran through his voice as he said, "I am ready to help you." Both women tensed up. "But... furnish me with a cause." That dark look he gave them seemed to go right to the heart of them. "Give a reason to join the battle." Anastrina's grip on her sword got stronger. Taking a deep breath, she made up her mind to do it. This person could be their best advantage or their biggest mistake. "We need your strength," she said with a firm voice. "Help us to combat those who thrive on tyranny. To construct a realm where authority belongs not to the ruthless but to those striving for freedom and justice." The dark angel's smile got bigger. He tilted his head a little, and the wind was stirred by his wings like a quiet storm. A low voice said, "Very well." "Let us witness your determination." He raised his hand with one smooth motion, sending a wave of power through the room. A wave of energy hit the battlefield and threw Herman's guards into trees, where they were scattered like leaves in a storm. When the Shadow Unicorn felt the power shift, it stopped talking and looked at the being with black wings with careful respect. Everything was a mess, and Anastrina and Elena were on the edge of a bigger fate than they could have imagined. The fallen angel had joined the fight. And the fight was still a long way off.
